SymXpert automates the symbol creation process by eliminating manual data entry and
simplifying pin data validation. By streamlining the creation of symbols for new parts,
SymXpert helps reduce design bottlenecks, eliminates opportunities for errors that can
cause downstream manufacturing problems, and frees up engineering time for more
critical design tasks.
- Creates and validates schematic symbols up to 24 times faster than manual methods
- Automatically extracts pin information from suppliers’ PDF datasheets without re-keying
- Identifies errors, missing information and inconsistencies between data extracted from different sections of a datasheet
- Partitions large-pin-count symbols into multiple sections according to user-defined preferences for functional grouping and pin ordering
- Applies user-defined templates to standardize symbol annotation and formatting
- Previews symbol to confirm adherence to formatting standards
- Generates symbols in a variety of leading EDA formats
SymXpert’s intelligent content extraction technology automatically extracts pin information directly
from suppliers’ datasheets, eliminating the need for manual data entry. Unlike unintelligent copy
and paste, SymXpert has the ability to correctly and interpret electronic component documentation.
SymXpert can also read and compare data directly from FPGA log files. This is especially useful in
identifying changes in FPGAs as they go through design revisions and creating symbols that reflect
their as-programmed state.
Despite suppliers’ best efforts to ensure the accuracy of their technical publications, datasheets
can and do contain errors and inconsistencies. SymXpert checks all data extracted from
datasheets for the most frequently occurring problems, including:
- Missing pin numbers
- Duplicated pin numbers
- Typographical errors
- Inconsistent information (pin names, signal negation, or direction) in different sections of the datasheet
SymXpert’s Advanced Fill capability uses the power of user-defined, regular expression-based rules
to automatically set pin attributes such as whisker type and pin graphics in accordance with your
symbol creation standards.
Pin arrangement of large pin count devices are a snap with SymXpert’s Auto Arrange feature. Auto
Arrange allows you to specify pin arrangement preferences and then apply those preferences to all
symbol sections. You have control over pin direction and side assignment, bus ordering, bus splitting,
and signal grouping.
User-defined templates apply company standards for symbol body properties, pin properties,
property and graphic locations, and text size. Templates ensure symbols are created consistently
to the same design standard. EDA-to-EDA property mappings allow symbols to be created once
and then be exported to multi-EDA environments.
