Component data management solution
The Component Information Portal™ (CIP) offers Cadence® OrCAD® Capture CIS users advanced component data management capabilities. Design teams can easily import parametric data from major part distributors directly into their component databases, define user roles at an administrative level, and track database changes to keep everyone in synch as the design progresses. CIP provides users with an automated methodology to implement, populate, and access their part data while ensuring consistency and proper design practices are being maintained. Best of all, EMA provides an automated method for migrating existing component data to CIP, allowing new users to adopt CIP without losing component data.
CIP is available to customers in two versions: CIP and CIP Enterprise (CIP-E). The standard version of CIP is intended for single user organizations, and is not scalable to support multi-user environments. CIP-E can be used in single or multi-user environments and provides additional capabilities to users.
Arrow Electronics integration: CIP users have access to all the latest up to date part information from one of the world's leading technology suppliers. Thousands of new components and computer products are introduced each month in the Arrow database. CIP 4.2 puts you in direct contact with the latest technology on the market.
Order of Part Number pull-down list can be configured by an administrator for ascending or descending order through Preferences in the Administrator tab.
CSV file formats can be configured by an administrator to use semicolon as the delimiter to support some international formats through Preferences in the Administrator tab.
Distributor sync allows distributors to be synchronized individually.
Mouser Electronics integration: Mouser Electronics has been added to the distributor search tab. Users now have access to all the latest up to date part information from Mouser right at their fingertips.
Admin enabled auto-increment Auto-incrementing of part numbers can now be enabled/disabled by the administrator.
Add distributor part numbers to existing part: Users can now update their existing parts with distributor specific part numbers.
Future Electronics Integration: Future Electronics has been added to the Distributor Search Tab, providing users access to this part database along with current support for Digi-Key®, Newark®, and Premier Farnell®. Users literally have access to millions of parts right at their fingertips.
Multiple distributor search: CIP 4.0 allows users to run parametric searches across multiple distributor databases simultaneously. This makes it a simple task to download device electrical data and determine the best fit in terms of price, lead time, and quantity, all at the same time.
Expanded Digi-Key search: CIP 4.0 users can now search for Digi-Key parts outside the United States. The price and language is displayed based on the configured country.
Saved searches: A user can now save search criteria for later use. Items like RoHS compliance and “In-stock” status can now become default search categories. Additionally, users can assign their saved searches as the default part search criteria.
Automatic part numbering: If CIP 4.0 is the system used for part origination, it will automatically assign the next available part number to a part when it is added to the database. This frees the user from having to track down the next available part number for use in CIP.
Library expansion: The off-the-shelf starter library has been expanded to include a total of 2,000 manufacturer parts, complete with parametric data, symbols, and footprints for each device.
User roles configuration: Users with administrative permission can add or modify user roles and select the permissions available to each role. When users are added, they can be assigned to any of these new or existing roles. [CIP-E only]
Change history: CIP-E 4.0 now maintains a complete, accessible history of changes made to parts in the database, manufacturer parts, and the association of manufacturer parts to formal and temporary parts. Users can view the history of a given part by clicking a history link. [CIP-E only]
“Associated With” links: Company part numbers that show up in the "Associated With" list in the Manufacturer Parts section of the part displays are now links. Users can view each part with the same manufacturer part number by clicking on the part number links. [CIP-E only]
Database changes: The CIP-E 4.0 database features the following changes:
- Tables added and modified to support new change history and saved searches features
- Fields added to support part number, quantity, cost, and data last updated for Future Electronics
