Enterprise Link™ provides synchronization between the Component Information System (CIS) and corporate data stored in external systems, like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM). Shared access allows engineers to design with corporate approved parts and prevents unnecessary new part introductions and associated administrative burden.
Enterprise Link minimizes the number of data sources an engineer needs to access during the initial design phase. The transition between the CIS and the corporate system is transparent to the user because the data schema is matched between the two databases. Changes within the ERP/PLM system are mirrored back to the CIS database.
Enterprise Link offers a unidirectional data flow from enterprise ERP/PLM systems to CIS. Engineering specific component parametric information and CAD symbol information are linked to corporate part numbers and manufacturing information using Enterprise Link. This provides flexibility for design engineers and at the same time implements a certain level of control for part selection and introduction. Only approved manufacturer parts are displayed inside Cadence® OrCAD® Capture CIS and engineers have the capability to introduce new parts as temporary place holders.
Bills of materials exported from
Cadence OrCAD Capture CIS will now include required corporate data because this information has been captured at the very beginning of the design process. Enterprise Link provides a closed-loop solution for engineering, with the purpose of tying engineering goals to the overall business goals of the corporation. Through a comprehensive data management system companies can reduce the administrative overhead associated with the design process because part information will be current and accurate.
By mirroring corporate data into CIS, users have direct access to part data without the need to use the ERP/PLM system. Implementing Enterprise Link minimizes the need for corporate system licenses and user training. Designers can focus on addressing complex design problems instead of navigating a complex ERP/PLM solution.
- Design with confidence knowing that part information and BOMs are based on current part availability and correct part numbers
- Access corporate part data directly from the OrCAD Capture CIS desktop
- Generate BOMs that are "ERP/PLM ready"
- Minimize administrative overhead by streamlining the part introduction process
- Reduce time and cost associated with new part approvals
- Eliminate unnecessary time that Engineers spend researching component data in ERP/PLM systems
- Administer database privileges based on administrative responsibilities
- Associate multiple manufacturers to a single part using the relational database capability in OrCAD Capture CIS
