FOR INTERNAL USE ONLY

Sales Enablement Documentation

OrCAD Standard

INTERNAL USE ONLY Target Customer: Hobbyists, Engineers currently using free software, Small Engineering groups. Standard should be used for small, simple designs but implementation of more complex circuitry is possible with a manual process.

Feature Highlights

User-Friendly Schematic Entry

Easily create simple, single sheet schematics or more complex hierarchical, multi-sheet schematics. Ensure your design intent is communicated accurately by defining and embedding physical rules into the schematic to drive the PCB design.

OrCAD Professional

INTERNAL USE ONLY Target Customer: Engineering groups with mid to high level design complexity (high-speed, differential pairs, rigid-flex, XNets, DDR). Companies producing multiples of the same design. PCB Professional contains automated technology to solve common problems like timing discrepancies, late-stage design changes, production and testing challenges, and slow time-to-market.

Note: Includes everything in standard plus:

Feature Highlights

Advanced interactive PCB editing

High-speed rules and additional features like region based rules for tight-pin areas, interactive delay tuning, etch over void detection, and more, make it easy to complete more complex design while adhering to design specifications.

FeatureDescription
Region-Based RulesWith OrCAD constraint regions you can define physical and spacing constraints for specific regions, helping to eliminate some of these manual, error-prone tasks. Create a shape for the region and assign the constraint set. OrCAD PCB Designer automatically follows these constraints when routing in the region and returns to the default constraints when no longer in the defined region.
Interactive Delay Tuning (link is external)With OrCAD interactive delay tuning a real-time, pop-up meter allows you to see when the required trace length has been achieved. Simply select the trace and watch the meter as the delay tune is added. The meter will turn green when the desired length is met.
Etch Over Void (link is external)Segment Over Void detection in OrCAD reports problem traces with the click of a button and highlights them for you to easily review.
Trace Length Matching (link is external)With Constraints for Net Groups in OrCAD, you can create Constraints for minimum and maximum propagation delay in mils, nanoseconds or percentage. Or set constraints for total etch length. Create Net Groups and assign the constraints to all the nets in a group. Analyze the constraints without ever leaving the Constraint Manager. Eliminate the need to check each individual net, DRC markers flag any incorrect lengths in real-time.

Allegro

INTERNAL USE ONLY Target Customer: Engineering groups working on highly complex designs where effective collaboration is essential. Additional Automation and capabilities for high-speed designs, built-in simulation for signal integrity and signal quality issues, optimized component placement and embedded components.

Note: Includes everything in Standard and Pro plus:

Allegro + Options General Highlights

Intelligent Design for Manufacturing

Allegro guides you through the process in real-time with features such as dynamic DFA, placement guidance, shape-based fillets, and a full suite of DFM rules, so you can avoid manufacturing errors before they happen.

Allegro Breakdown

Allegro Base

Effectively solve signal integrity issues with additional electrical constraints for parallelism to assist with exposed length and crosstalk in your designs. Seamlessly create and manage complicated vias with capabilities to create and save via structures for reuse in your designs, manage vias with rules to define via count, and match vias on differential pairs. As your design requirements change or increase in complexity, you can add on feature options tailored to your current needs
