Ultra Librarian Announces UltraBOM® for Digi-Key, Enabling Part Research Within OrCAD Capture

Rochester, NY (March 11, 2020) – Ultra Librarian®, the world’s largest free cloud-based CAD library provider, today announced UltraBOM®, enabling design engineers to search and research Digi-Key Electronics parts within OrCAD® Capture, and then submit BOM parts directly to Digi-Key for purchase.

“The entire Bill of Materials (BOM) or a selection can be ordered directly from Digi-Key with a single click of a button,” said Manny Marcano, president and CEO of EMA.  “Errors and recommendations are reported for review, and all components are added to the cart in the correct quantities.  This also eliminates the manual entry of parametric data into the schematic, reduces errors when ordering parts, and saves time on monotonous tasks, allowing engineers to focus on their designs.”

UltraBOM® for Digi-Key allows engineers to search distributor part information and review component parameters such as status, component availability, lead-times, and cost without leaving OrCAD Capture.  Access to this data helps engineers select known high-quality orderable parts upfront.  This distributor-driven design data is very important for quick-turn or rapid prototyping as engineers are able to gain fast access to the parts they need and keep the design and prototyping process moving forward.

Live parametric information can also easily be linked to existing parts.  If the library part has not yet been created, then the user can instantly download the schematic symbol with linked footprints and Digi-Key supplier data from Ultra Librarian.  Part information, availability, and status can be monitored and reviewed throughout the design with a fully customizable BOM.  There is no need to spend hours verifying every component in the design or finding replacement components.  Issue are flagged in real-time and resolved quickly without needing to leave the engineering design environment.

“Because of the tremendous workloads and shortened project timelines design teams face, managers are always interested in streamlining and increasing efficiency by reducing tedious tasks for their engineers,” added Marcano.  “Designers need tools like UltraBOM® that automate manual tasks and enable them to be successful when faced with these challenges.”

“We are thrilled with the addition of UltraBOM® to Digi-Key’s suite of free tools and resources for our customers,” said Jeremy Purcell, senior digital product owner, DigiKey. “We are constantly looking for ways to improve our customers’ experience and partnering with Ultra Librarian connects both new and seasoned customers with an easy method for part purchasing and BOM creation.”

EMA Launches Ultra Librarian Model Cloud on Maxim Integrated’s Website

EMA Design Automation, a full-service provider and innovator of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) solutions, today announced the launch of the Ultra Librarian Model Cloud on the Maxim Integrated Products, Inc. (NASDAQ: MXIM) website covering nearly 100% of their parts.

“This new interface allows Maxim customers to view the details of Maxim’s ECAD and MCAD models so they can visually configure and verify the models prior to download,” said Manny Marcano, president and CEO of EMA.  “This adds another level of confidence for engineers when downloading content to complete their electronic designs.”

A primary step in creating the electronic design necessary for these solutions is to create or download the symbols, footprints, and 3D models required by the ECAD and MCAD toolsets used by design engineers.  The addition of the Ultra Librarian Model Cloud download capability to Maxim’s website combines part research with CAD model download.  When a user finds a part for their design, they can examine each of the models in different views and detail levels to confirm their part choice.  They can then choose from 29 different CAD formats (including Altium, OrCAD, and SOLIDWORKS), specify preferences on the generated models, and download the ECAD and MCAD models in a seamless online experience.

The models Maxim provides on its website are part of an ongoing collaboration with Ultra Librarian.  The Ultra Librarian team recently created over 7,000 additional part models, verified by both Ultra Librarian and Maxim engineers, bringing the total count to over 85,000 Maxim products.  This gives Maxim nearly 100% model coverage for their entire product line.  As Maxim creates new products, the Ultra Librarian team will add models into the Ultra Librarian database so Maxim customers can access them from their CAD tool of choice.

“We’re solving engineering problems and empowering design innovation with our advanced and high-performance products,” said Anders Reisch, managing director, Training and Technical Services at Maxim Integrated.  “By providing Ultra Librarian models for our electronic components directly from our website, we make using Maxim products that much faster and easier.”

EMA Provides Free Access to Ultra Librarian – the World’s Largest Library of Verified EDA Symbols, Footprints, and 3D Models

EMA Design Automation, a full-service provider and innovator of Electronic Design Automation (EDA) solutions, today announced that access for its more than 14 million component library is now free, allowing downloads from the world’s largest collection of verified symbols, footprints, and 3D STEP models through www.ultralibrarian.com.  “Today’s engineers don’t have the time or the desire to do the tedious work of creating library parts,” said Manny Marcano, president and CEO of EMA.  “By providing free access to the world’s largest library of verified EDA component models, we can help them maintain focus on their primary task of designing circuits.”

Ultra Librarian contains symbols, footprints, and 3D models for over 14 million electronic components, making it the largest EDA model library in the world.  Working closely with component manufacturers, EMA has doubled the size of the library from seven million to over 14 million parts in less than two years.  The Ultra Librarian team can achieve this rate of growth by using the Ultra Librarian Desktop software, which uses a sophisticated combination of templates, pdf extraction, and verification algorithms to quickly capture all important component information necessary to create the unique library components required for over 20 CAD model formats, including Altium, Eagle, KiCad, OrCAD, and PADS. To ensure the highest accuracy, consistency, and adherence to IPC standards, models undergo more than 30 different verification checks.

Ultra Librarian also helps with the mechanical side of PCB design by offering 3D STEP models for the vast majority of the parts in the library.  “Many electrical engineers and PCB designers do not have the tools or the mechanical expertise to create 3D models,” said Marcano.  “Their primary focus is the electrical side of the problem, so being able to download a 3D model together with the symbol and footprint saves a lot of time and eliminates many errors.  Ultra Librarian 3D component models are available in STEP format providing superior compatibility with virtually all 3D CAD systems, including SOLIDWORKS and Autodesk Inventor.”

“By removing the barrier of cost, we’re making EDA library components far more accessible, allowing every designer to create designs faster and with fewer errors,” added Marcano.  “This is just the next step in our quest for us to build the ‘Gold Standard’ of EDA libraries.”
