AI Assisted PCB Design to Dramatically Increase Designer Productivity & Efficiency
One of your most valuable (and non renewable resources) is time. Allegro X AI helps design teams to drastically reduce design cycles while enabling more experimentation and optimization upfront. AI driven PCB design unlocks the ability to 10x productivity, enable quick informed decision making, and lets designers focus on the work that moves the needle while AI can help take care of the rest.
Maximize designer productivity and free engineers up to focus on the highest value projects and tasks.
Test more design possibilities in less time to ensure optimal configuration selection upfront.
Evaluate design alternatives and identify bottlenecks early before committing to hardware.
Leverage AI during the most time-consuming part of the design process to dramatically improve outcomes.
Load your design into OrCAD X or Allegro X just as you would any other design to start using X AI.
Follow the X AI workflow to walk you through the steps to setup and configure X AI.
With runs taking just minutes to hours, you won’t have to wait long until results are prepared.
Allegro X AI provides the next step function in performance and productivity design teams have been looking for. The goal is lofty; dramatically reduce the time it takes for PCB implementation through AI driven automation. The results are equally impressive. Take a look at our case studies to see how AI is driving unmatched gains in productivity and performance.
Cadence has been tackling computational software challenges since its inception. AI brings another use case for the work the Cadence R&D team has been pioneering for years. With this deep computational software background working with customers in high performance, zero tolerance environments Cadence is best positioned to provide the highest performing highest accuracy AI EDA solutions on the market.
While AI and what it can do for automating workloads has recently been popularized with OpenAI ChatGPT, Google Gemini and others, automating PCB design through AI has been an initiative at Cadence since 2018. As one of the select few companies chosen by DARPA for their Intelligent Design of Electronic Assets (IDEA) program, Cadence has been working to realize the vision of automated EDA design for some time. Allegro X AI is the culmination of that work, commercialized for the PCB design community. What started as somewhat of a moonshot program has evolved into the next generation in PCB design productivity almost 10 years in the making.
Allegro X AI is built to deliver realistic, real-world results leveraging the over 30 years of experience Cadence has supporting the most demanding and complex PCB design workloads for their customers. Results are grounded in physics and manufacturability first and foremost to ensure a fast and reliable path to production.
Allegro X AI is something entirely new, yet but built to feel familiar to designers. This is made possible by integrating this groundbreaking new AI assisted design capability directly into your Cadence design environment. This deep integration ensures easy deployment and adoption and allows usage to occur naturally as part of the current design process.
Allegro X AI was built to utilize and understand your CAD data from the beginning. This allows you to leverage the design intent you already embed into your CAD files to drive fast and high-quality results with X AI. From electrical constraints, DFM requirements, to schematic connectivity and room placement, X AI was designed to leverage the data you already have to drive fast accurate results.
Leveraging Allegro X AI doesn’t require you to learn a new tool or deal with import and export flows to evaluate results. With Allegro X AI you can leverage the power of AI without having to leave your native CAD environment making this easy to deploy and use without disrupting existing workflows.
Allegro X AI is ready to use in both the OrCAD X and Allegro X Cadence PCB design platforms. No matter what PCB design solution you are using from Cadence you can access AI functions when and where needed.
With the level of variation in board size, function, and complexity, AI assisted automation also needs to be able to scale and adjust to provide the best fit for specific project needs. Allegro X AI allows design teams to deploy and scale X AI as needed based on the requirements and tasks at hand, providing maximum flexibility and utility for AI assistance across as many design scenarios as possible.
Not every project need will be the same. Allegro X AI allows you to customize how AI can assist you per run to help ensure you are getting the productivity boosts you need right where you need them. Execute X AI on the entire board or just section or in phases (Place, Route, Copper). It is your choice to make sure you always have control.
Your designs are your IP and should be treated as such. That is why X AI does NOT use your designs for training purposes. This ensures your IP stays secure while you are able to leverage the productivity and performance speedup benefits X AI affords your team.
Access cloud compute resources directly with Allegro X AI. While your data is fully protected and secure you can leverage cloud scalability to help you allocate resources needed to execute AI runs as efficiently as possible.
The proof is in the results. See examples of X AI in use.
Allegro X AI is never trained on customer data and designs. Cadence uses their own library of designs along with their over 30 years of PCB design expertise to train Allegro X AI.
Runs can vary from minutes to hours based on design complexity. The focus and goal for X AI is to make sure run time is orders of magnitude faster than getting to that same point through manual methods. Take a look at some of our case studies to see examples of results
Yes! This is a great way to test multiple experiments at once or kickoff multiple projects in parallel to help further increase the time savings from Allegro X AI.
Currently X AI uses a secure Amazon Web Services infrastructure to run the AI engine. This infrastructure is setup to protect your data at all times and at no time does Cadence or anyone else have access to the data being run in X AI. A on-premise solution is coming soon. Our team is happy to work with your IT or infosec teams to answer any questions they may have.
All that is needed is OrCAD X or Allegro X release 25.1 or above and access to Allegro X AI which is then run directly in the PCB design interface.
Currently Allegro X AI only works inside the OrCAD X and Allegro X PCB design tools, however design importers are built-in to allow you to bring in designs from other CAD solutions like Altium, KiCAD, Eagle, and PADS and run them with Allegro X AI.
The capabilities and solution space is constantly evolving. Currently X AI supports designs with 5,000 components and below and do not use flex or rigid flex. Please contact us to discuss if X AI is the right fit for the designs you would like to accelerate.
Yes! Please contact us and we would be happy to discuss the use of Allegro X AI in your design environment.
The best way to find out is for us try Allegro X AI on your designs. Contact us to set that up. In general customers are seeing 50%-70% time reduction using the Allegro X AI technology often shaving weeks or more off design cycles.
